Engineering Card in The Netherlands

In 2011 The Netherlands was the second country in Europe to introduce the engineering card, after Germany. Other countries followed in 2012 and later. The motivation was to provide engineers with new opportunities for career progression on a national as well as an international level. In The Netherlands 130 Engineering Cards were issued between 2011 and 2015, in Europe around 500. Despite advertisement campaigns, the demand for the Engineering Card did not rise. KIVI had higher expectations and decided to stop the with the Engineering Card at the end of 2015. Support of the enigeering card has been terminated as of the beginning of 2026.
